Don’t Underestimate the Power of Perseverance

Did you know that Colonel Sanders – yes that Colonel Sanders – was rejected over one thousand times before a restaurant decided to trial his beloved fried chicken recipe? Or that Beethoven – largely considered one of the finest composers to ever live – wrote most of his masterworks after he went deaf?

On this blog, we talk a lot about dollars and cents – or, in other words, the strategic and tactical decisions you should consider setting yourself up for financial success. We want to use today’s post to talk about something less tangible, but hugely powerful: The power of persistence.

Persistence, as with anything in life, is a massively important component of smart investing. In our line of work, we frequently encounter investors who have an appetite for success, but a tendency to change direction. Whether they are chasing market trends or making decisions based on acute emotions (see our last blog post for more on this), many investors lack the temperament or patience required to see a strategic plan through to completion and maximize their chance of success.

But nobody said persistence was easy. As strategic advisors, we often find ourselves counseling clients through legitimate, difficult emotional battles that threaten to knock them off course. Sometimes, the best thing we can do as wealth managers is to step back from the numbers and offer an empathetic, confident perspective – one informed by both years of professional experience and, critically, a genuine desire to see our clients succeed, even if that means enduring unsavory, but necessary, pain.

Colonel Sanders, close to retirement and living on Social Security checks, didn’t have a vast sum of capital or years of money management experience. What he had was persistence, the only ingredient needed to produce lasting success. Make persistence part of your investing strategy, and work with financial advisors who understand the right plan is worth sticking to, through thick and thin.

When it comes to executing your financial strategy, we’re as persistent as they come. Reach out to Cypress Private Wealth to find a strategic partner who has the experience, knowledge and patience to help you reach your financial goals.
